This was originally part of yesterday's post but that thing was God awful long, so I split it into two posts.
I am trying to get my MOM to go see New Moon with me today...
She likes Jacob.
I know. I know.
MY THOUGHTS ON NEW MOON:
1. The beginning was just like reading the book. I can't imagine a better opening sequence.
I will complain about one thing...do the sparkles need to make a sound? Really? I mean I hear wind-chimes in my head when I see Rob already...and choirs of angels...so...
Know my fave part in the beginning? Charlie. Seriously, I wanted to yell, "Charlie, where have you been all my life?" Charlie was amazing in all of his scenes. From his gut wrenching scenes comforting a screaming Bella to his "famous ladies man" line... perfection.

2. When the months pass by I cried. This is the scene where I finally fell in love with Kristen as Bella. She won me over. The song just kills me... I needed to have the songs connected to the scenes in order for me to like them. As the stand alone soundtrack I did not like the music but now I will hear them and think of the scenes and I will smile...or cry, in this case. Another killer Kristen scene is when Bella confronts Jake about his "avoiding" her, when she says "it's killing me, it kills me" to Jacob. I died. God help me, I love Bella now! Well, I love Kristen playing Bella now. While I am speaking of Kristen, she looked beautiful in New Moon.

3. Bella, Mike and Jacob go to the "Face Punch". First off, the dialouge to the movie...LMAO! Kristen's face as she see's the guys hands out just waiting for her to hold them...one of my favorite scenes. I love Jake calling Mike a "marshmallow" and how he tries to hold her hand. I just love this scene. Bella's honesty with him and her emotions are perfect.
This brings me to Jacob. Oh, Taytay...I made so much fun of you and your puppy ways. I am sorry. I take it all back. I still do not find you "attractive" in the least BUT I am so happy YOU were cast as Jacob. I loved Taylor in New Moon. More girls/women/some men didn't gasp, giggle, and audibly UNF when Taytay got all shirtless than when Rob did. I am okay with that...GO, love the wolf boy...I will comfort Rob.

4. The Victoria/Wolfpack/Charlie/Cliff Diving scene was amazing. The song, the cinematography, the colors, the bird flying, all of it was amazing. Victoria looked evil and flawless, I will miss Rachelle. There was so much going on at once but it all fell so right together. This scene is what Chris Weitz brought to this movie in a nutshell. He is now the standard for awesomeness. He took risks with his use of CGI, his tone, and his editing...BUT, I got nothing but love for The Weitz!

5. The Volturri. Aro and Jane blew me away. I wanted more of them. I loved the CGI effect in the begining when the painting morphed into the flashback to Carlisle's time with the Volturri. Michael Sheen is amazing, stole the show in all his scenes. He was perfectly cast. Jane had the reddest eyes I have ever seen...and Dakota Fanning does evil a little too well, me thinks.

6. Did people at your theatre laugh when Alice shows Aro the "future" when Bella and Edward run through the forest? I swear people laughed at both screenings AND in the download! I don't know if it was the "cheese" factor of that scene or just watching Robert run...maybe both.

7. The ending scene. I did not expect it to end that way. I had heard so much about their NOT being a proposal in New Moon...everytime I see that scene, my heart stops and I get all tingly. True tingles. This leads me to my opinion on Robert's performance. I will be totally honest and say I liked it more than his Twilight performance but he was (God forgive me, Cutes forgive me, Rob forgive me) "meh". You all know, I love me some Rob but he was correct in all his interviews when he said he does not carry this movie. He doesn't. He accents it at times, for example Edward's small but effective use of humor..."never trust vampires,...trust me"... we need a little more of that! He looked great, and he was not as "beefed up" as the photos all led us to believe he would be. He was very lean in his shirtless scenes...lean, and hairy and beautiful. He was soft spoken and as in pain as usual. He was my Edward.

Your review of "New Moon" is pretty much my review of "New Moon." I also agree that Robward felt "meh" in this film. Maybe he was trying to portray Edward's inner turmoil or some such thing. I get that. But I don't feel he committed to his performance the same way Taycob did -- and I totally think it was Taylor's film this time around.
Now let us all applaud the fact that Bella has finally given up that God awful headband. ::clap:: Seriously, it bugged me in the first film, lol!
Your review is EXACTLY what I was about to post. That’s not a bad thing, we both agree and yes the audience did laugh at the Alice seeing Bella in the future scene. I think it was Rob running which made people laugh.
I just might add that prior, I was nervous about the CG wolves but seeing it with the noise and the camera movements just made it spectacular. When Paul and Jacob are fighting as wolves and they go tumbling down a hill knocking the camera over. BRILLIANT!!
This was Jacob’s moment to shine and shine he did. He has won legion of fans and I am with you on that. They can love the wolf, we’ll comfort Edward...
Great review!
Nice review!
I shared many of the same feelings. Dakota Fanning as Jane was amazing! Everyone laughed in my theatre during the "look into the future" scene. The ending had my heart racing! I also heard that the proposal might not happen so I just kept thinking, "You better say it Edward!!" lol But then fading to black right after! What!?!? That threw me off entirely. I was like, is this the Sopranos or something?
Anyway, Taylor as Jacob was lovely! I will be seeing it again soon!
I agree with much of what ya said :D Tay totally surprised me, and Kristen really brought it strong as well...although I could have stood for a more emotionally distraught Bella at the break-up scene...she looked like she was discussing which bills to pay at the end of the month. I can't agree with your saying Rob's performance was "meh" though!! I had to gush about it in my own post, because he absolutely BLEW ME AWAY...wrenching the emotions out of me with his tone and facial expressions and just...damn, I love him. Haha... New Moon surpasses Twilight tenfold...
Your review is awesome.
Kristen was amazing and she did look stunning, big improvement from Twilight - (and I'm not hating on Twilight by no means - I loved it!)
Loved Aro - Michael Sheen you are THE man! Can't imagine anyone else in the role.
Now, pained and tortured Edward is sheer perfection. Loved how they worked in the apparitions - the scene with Bella drowning - no words. Edward crushing the cellphone - no words again...
Was a little diappointed they didn't do the plane scene but oh well... And I didn't mind the "run", Robward can do no wrong in my eyes....
What surprised me was Tay's performance, boy oh boy, that boy can act! I was never team Jacob (nor will I ever be) but I felt sorry for Jake - which I didn't when I read the book.
Loved Thom Yorke's "Hearing Damage"...
Ok, off to see the movie again...
Hey yeah Emz have to agree with you saying you CAN'T agree with the others saying Rob's performance was "meh". He did tourtured SO unfuckingbeliveably...& when he smiled you just felt all the more happy for him to be able to experiance those un tormented moments.
Ugh...Rob *dreamy sigh*
Lol I think Chris has audiences around the world giggling at the future scene... Audience has laughed both times I've been to it here in rainy New Zealand :)
Other than that (oh & maybe the vampire eyes which were too extreme, & Carlisle, Alice & Rosalie's wigs) the movie was beyond fanfuckingtastic!!!
Love your review of the movie, basically because I agree with you on EVERY point. Truly, I do.
Especially Taylor Lautner portraying the perfect Jacob.
And Kristen playing Bella perfectly this time around. However, I assume this is because Kristen always seems depressed in her real life, so it's possible that it was easier for her to be depressed Bella. Just a thought of mine. *shrugs*
I cannot wait to see more Aro in the future, he is amazing, flawless at his character...
Dakota Fanning, I love you, stay evil.
I will not comment on Jacob, not comment on how book Jacob annoys the living hell out of me but movie Jacob makes me sympathetic, I will not talk about that...
You all know I love my Rob...I just wanted more from him. I don't know. I guess I really internalized Rob's perception of his performance as being "laid back" and "not in the spotlight", "not carrying the movie". His words. I agree. However, the more I see him as Edward, the more he becomes my BOOK Edward...which he wasn't before. I love Rob's performance for what it was...
I DO LOVE the nuances he adds in scenes like the Volturri's decision about NOT killing him. His facial expressions are perfect there. I love his smile in Carlisle's study, when he tells Bella that the only thing that can hurt him is her...the dimples! Ugh!!!!
And let us NOT speak of his shirtless perfection....let us just dream of it.
Loved your review! So dead on. Everyone laughed at the Vasmpire Bella/Edward running scene both times I saw it too! It broke my little Team Edward heart because I actually liked that scene...I thought it was sweet. Cheesy sure, but sweet.
Okay, I swear I had some of the same thoughts on my post! (It took two days for me to post it as well!)
I have seen it three times and am looking forward to more.
Billy Burke will forever be "the ladies man" to me.
totally agree with you on all that, but the main scene for me was Rob walking across the school car park for the first time with Monsters playing in the background, looking like exactly what he is a really HOTTTT man!! Phew is it hot in here or is it me? LOL Clare x

I like to know your thoughts. They are so deep and fascinating, I mean, dirty and funny.
